Join renowned artist Adam Miller for an exclusive 6-day workshop that delves deep into the world of the great masters, housed within a beautiful London studio and including visits to the prestigious halls of the National Gallery.
This intimate workshop is designed for artists who wish to refine their skills and embrace the classical techniques that have shaped the history of art. With a focus on masterpieces such as Rubens’ “Samson and Delilah” and Da Vinci’s “Virgin of the Rocks,” participants will embark on a journey through time, exploring the structural drawing techniques and painting approaches that have immortalized these works.
Set in a stunning studio located in the heart of Chelsea, this workshop offers an unparalleled opportunity to study and work in an environment that evokes creativity and passion. Participants will have the unique experience of learning the techniques of the masters from a living master.
Painting on specially prepared wood panels, a method revered by the great masters themselves, while working from a live model to capture the essence of human form expressed through an understanding of anatomy perspective and movement. Students will improve their understanding of form, expression and anatomy in the process of making a finished drawing to transfer to their panel. This will emphasize the centrality of disegno to the completion of a successful painting. The paintings will then be executed in the traditional methods of the renaissance layered painting techniques.
Beyond the canvas, this workshop promises an extraordinary experience of London’s rich culture of art and gastronomy, offering a taste of the city’s culinary delights, ensuring a complete and immersive London experience.

Included:
1 August Friday: Tour and lectures at National Gallery, including lunch.
2 August Saturday: Introductory lecture introduction to materials and discussion of drawing.
3 August Sunday: Drawing with a focus on perspective, volume and anatomy.
4 August Monday: Lecture on painting techniques, transfer the drawing to canvas and begin underpainting.
5 August Tuesday: Lecture on color mixing, begin color application.
5 August Tuesday Evening: End of Class Group Dinner.
6 August Wednesday: Lecture on glazing, glazing and final touches.
6 August Wednesday: End of class certificate of completion.
