Course Description:
Join artist Krista Schoening for a floral painting workshop at BACAA. What better way to spend a 4- day weekend painting flowers. This class will emphasize color and flower structure while painting from observation. Class time will be divided between a painting demonstration by the instructor and time for students to paint flowers using the techniques demonstrated by Schoening. Schoening will also give a lecture on the history of specific flowers, to familiarize students with the vast visual diversity and cultural reach of these beloved plants.

Bio:

Krista Schoening is a painter whose work explores the genre of still life, with a particular emphasis on flower painting. Her work explores the history of still life, using the past as a mirror through which we can better understand our present moment. She is currently teaching painting and drawing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she is a Windgate Artist in Residence. She has exhibited internationally and in both commercial and public galleries, including the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, the Susquehanna Art Museum, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and the Henry Art Gallery. She holds an MFA in painting and drawing and an MA in art history, both from the University of Washington.
