Course Description:
Learn how to draw the figure, from block-in to completion, with an emphasis on the forms, planes, and key anatomical structures of the body. Beginning with the gesture, students will progress toward assembling the figure on the page in a structural manner, simplifying complex areas, emphasizing focal points, and using anatomy to create a more realistic drawing. Students will also learn how to render light, shadow, and atmospheric effects using graphite, a medium that naturally lends itself to building depth through layers of hatching and shading.
Bio:
Mildred Hankinson is a figurative artist and instructor. She studied fine art and illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and has been teaching online and in-person classes throughout the Bay Area since 2013.
